Vase : Poetry in Pottery : The Earth & The Moon : A Cosmic Fable
XYZero Porcelain Vases are a stylish accessory to any home. The Poetry in Pottery range is a unique way of illustrating the written word in three dimensional form.
OK - another Poetry in Pottery attempt - this one is more in a form of a story about the moon inside an ocean, there but not there - and should anyone wonder, not autobiographical ; )
----------------
once upon a time
eons ago
two celestial beings,
the earth and the moon,
found each other
drawn to the other
fiercely so
their union was
so intense
they believed
- as young lovers
often do
that their hearts
were fused together
forever
and indeed
for awhile
it seemed so.
but,
as young lovers
often do,
not knowing how to deal
with feelings
so profound
it shook
the pillars
of their souls
just when their passion
became everything
was everything
the moon
got scared
she remembered
a time of being
free -
adrift…
not knowing
what the next moment
may bring
she missed that
sense
of expectation
of exploring,
a journey into
the unknown
and slowly
ever so slowly
started to gather
the bits of her
that survived
their cataclysmic
union
earth sensing
a reticence
of touch
where before
there was such
blissful ecstasy
panicked
and in his hurt
and anger
tried to hold onto
as much of the moon
as it could
and the more
the petrified earth
clung to the moon,
the more the moon
became stifled and
convinced that
this was not
for her
this was not
true love
and even if
it breaks her heart
she needs to be
free
and she moved
away
earth shuddered
in hurt
in anger
tried to expel
every bit of moon
left within
great red hot
streams of lava
flowed across the land
creating huge valleys
reaching up
to lofty mountain peaks
the moon witnessed
from afar
earth’s hurt
and anger
and felt
curiously
aloof from it all
she was now
more convinced
than ever before
that she did
the right thing
but could not help
staring in morbid fascination
at the earth
she could not look away;
earth’s pain
held her at bay
it was the longest time
before she realised
that what now
lay before her
the hills, valleys, mountains
was a map
of her heart
and that without it
she was lost
in a cold, dark space
that she had lost
something dear
to her
she had lost
her heart
on earth
and earth
held her
in its sway
earth
had laid its soul
bare to the moon
- the map of her heart
that he thought
he knew so well
and that he would
dwell happily
forever within
earth’s
despair
turned into
tears
a torrent
of memories
now swathed
across the landscape
floods of thoughts
seeking reason
great thunderclaps
tore at heavenly fabric;
fine silvery lace
intricately woven
by the moon
with tender touch
earth cried
the moon stared
at the memory of her;
an ocean of tears
she was tied
to the earth
as ever before
a tide
tugging at her
as she circled
the earth
round and round
her memories
reached out to her
forever-more
round and round
the moon
inside
an ocean
there
but not
there
time
passed into darkness
but
out of darkness
came a light
- the sun!
radiant, brilliant, bright, light
wise beyond time
it has conquered
darkness
and unwrapped
the dark cloak hiding
earth and moon
earth cried in pain
“its too bright, too light”
the sun took pity on the earth
and gave it a golden
sunrise and sunset
to circle the earth
and heal its wounds
with tender birdsong touch
she coloured earth’s tears
in rainbow light
and where it fell
clothed the barren earth
with prayer-petal flowers
worshipping the sun
intricately woven
to the moon’s
now cold
reflective face
she gave
a silver light
to dominion
night
and to remind
earth and moon
of the folly of
young love;
forever they’d
be bound
by an ocean
by earth’s shadow
across moon’s face
by tides
across earth’s heart
to never
live in the future,
nor exist in the past
but to forever bask
in the presence
of present light
that shines
so bright
in love
for when
it comes
to the matters
of the heart
and of
true love
I am you
and you
are me
and its a road
best discovered
together
for what
are we
without
love?
