anyone?
our fate
has a date
that’s when
we’re done
when Dante’s
inferno burns
our Icarus wings
in the heat
of the sun,
when we start
to run from
this rising tide,
where will
you hide?
where will
the captains
of industry
steer us then?
oh, you pious
with those most
beautiful crowns
of power
you hate
mongers
tell me:
will you judge
your victory,
our “salvation”
by the
blissful corpses
you’ve made
of us all?
and tell me:
once the opium
you preach,
the gold that you leech,
“in the name of love,
king and country”
tarnish in the sun -
what good
will it do you then,
when we’re dead?
our creed
of greed
our viral
seed
our consummation
of our mother -
has torn her
asunder
plastic poison
she bleeds,
carbon tears
she weeps -
a stark reward for
our blunder,
our plunder -
greed is
not good
greed does
not work
profit does
not come
before
people
greed
sucks
death
and when
it comes
we’re done
as time is
not on
our side
